Meet Dr. Amy Centers
I’m Amy — a workplace strategist, ICF-Certified Executive Coach (PCC), and founder of SmartWorks Lab™, focused on how humans and organizations sustain clarity, capacity, and performance in an AI-accelerated world.
For more than 20 years, I’ve worked with leaders and organizations navigating complexity, rapid change, and rising cognitive load. My work draws on organizational psychology, neuroscience, and behavior change to help people think clearly, lead intentionally, and design systems that work for humans, not just outputs.
I’ve partnered with more than 100 organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, global NGOs, and scaling technology firms. My work has spanned leadership development, workforce transformation, and executive coaching during periods of reinvention, uncertainty, and growth.
Nearly five years as Vice President of Client Transformation Solutions at Fuel50 shaped a deep understanding of modern talent ecosystems, internal mobility, and skills-based growth. That experience continues to inform my work today, particularly where human capacity, intelligent technology, and organizational design intersect.
I founded SmartWorks Lab as a home for this work — not as a traditional consultancy, but as a place for clear thinking and applied practice focused on designing work that supports human capacity over time.
I believe clarity is a leadership skill. Human capacity is a strategic asset. Performance should not come at the expense of well-being.
Whether I’m advising leaders, supporting large-scale change, or contributing to applied research and thought leadership, I bring grounded insight and steady execution, built for environments where the ground is shifting.
Beyond the Bio
I’ve been to all seven continents, taken the polar plunge in both the Arctic and Antarctic, and once got chased by an unhappy baboon while climbing Kilimanjaro. A resilient animal lover, I volunteer my time giving belly rubs to an African porcupine, back rubs to a lemur, and banana peels to a slightly homicidal warthog. I also won a home gym on The Price is Right during COVID—which still counts as my finest athletic achievement.
These moments—curious, ridiculous, and surprisingly grounding—shape how I work: with humor, humility, and a deep respect for what it takes to lead well in wild environments (natural or organizational). I believe leadership, like life, is an adventure—and we’re better when we show up for it fully human.
